The Summer Fun Day on the 1st August at Southall was a hit, led by BANG Young Leaders alongside the Berkeley Group team.
Community Bonding
The day entertained adults, young people, and children with various games, stalls, and markets, some manned by the Young Leaders.
The buzzing and friendly atmosphere brought the local community together. Namely, the bike stunt show enthralled spectators through their tricks and jumps. Additionally, Parkside Markets had local traders and stalls across the site. So, residents could browse, shop, and connect with their neighbours.
BANG Young Leaders’ Impact
Throughout the day, the Young Leaders displayed their leadership and interpersonal skills as they welcomed residents and supported vendors. They also engaged residents through a survey, as they sought to understand their needs and aspirations.
In partnership with Berkeley Group, the BANG Youth Leadership project aims to empower young people to lead projects and drive change in their communities.
BANG Young Leader, Jamellya, recalled how the surveys helped her understand “how important it is to give community members a voice.” Likewise, others noted how their preparation and execution helped them to learn the importance of collaboration, confidence-building, and expressing your creativity and passions.
BANG and Future Projects
Berkeley Group has begun a partnership with BANG for the next three years. As a property development company, they give more opportunities to young people to lead, learn enterprise skills and represent their communities.
