There’s something powerful about watching an artist reclaim their narrative in real time and that’s exactly what Leigh-Anne Pinnock delivered at her London show of her My Ego Told Me tour
Best known as one-fourth of global girl group Little Mix, Leigh-Anne is no stranger to the stage. But this moment was her world, her sound, and her story, fully realised.
From the moment she stepped on stage, there was a confidence that carried through the entire performance.
Her solo material leans into a rich blend of R&B, Afrobeats, and pop influences, coming from a mixed background it felt deeply personal yet global. Leigh-Anne has spoken openly about finding her voice beyond the group and you can feel the intention behind every track.
The O2 forum venue allowed for an intimate setting with the audience, and Leigh-Anne used that to her advantage with engaging crowd participation, and genuinely soaking in the moment.
Vocally, she was strong and controlled, and moved through each track with ease while seamlessly executing choreography.
There were moments where the crowd sang back with zeal and not just as fans of her past, but as believers in this new chapter.
As a Black British woman navigating pop at this level, her pivot into more culturally rooted sounds is significant. In a music landscape where she is having to carve out her own lane post-group success, Leigh-Anne is doing it in a way that feels authentic. Ex-band mate Jade was also in attendee to show support
Saturday’s show didn’t feel like a debut it felt like a continuation, and if this performance is anything to go by, her solo journey is only just getting started
