Kane Robinson, also known by his stage name Kano, was awarded yesterday with the Royal Television Society’s Leading Male Actor Award for his performance as Sully in hit crime drama television series Top Boy.  

His RTS Award builds on the MOBO Award for Best Performance in a TV Show/Film that he received in 2022 for the same role, further demonstrating his wide range of artistic talents as an award-winning rapper and actor.  

Speaking on the RTS Award, Robinson said the following:  

“I think the show has just been so important to many people, especially from the area that I grew up in and areas like that. There wasn’t really much stuff on TV that we could connect with and give voice to a certain unheard community and just tell these stories. And I think people loved it for that reason, and just the honesty, the rawness, and the truth, and just really trying to be real as possible and that’s what I try to do as an actor. As mad as it sounds, I want people that actually lived that life to say, ‘He’s I portrayed that in a true way.’ I want to impress them.”
