The US TikTok ban might soon be set in the US on January 19th

The popular Chinese parent company ‘Tik Tok’ could potentially be banned in the US if it is not sold to an American company by January 19th

If this ban does take effect on Sunday, Google and Apple will no longer offer TikTok for downloads for new users, however if you are an existing user you may still have access to the app

Due to companies not being able to offer support services, the US Government and TikTok have agreed that the app will slowly degrade and eventually become unusable over time.

Many people are in fear of the app completely disappearing which is not the case, it will not instantly disappear from a device but Bytedance will just not be issuing anymore updates to the app.

President-elect Donald Trump has asked the court to delay their decision so he can seek a ‘political solution’

For context, Tik Tok is the leading destination for short-form mobile video, with its global headquarters located in Singapore and Los Angeles. Its offices also include London, New York, Paris, Seoul, Jakarta, Berlin, Dublin and Tokyo.

The platform is mostly used by young people to express themselves through dancing, singing, comedy and lip-syncing, allowing people to share their businesses and talents across a wide range of audience. This will be a big threat to many people that rely on TikTok as a source of income.
