The Beat 103.6FM were excited to attend Usher‘s tour, Past Present Future at the O2 Arena recently!
Following his iconic Super Bowl performance in 2024 and his Las Vegas residency, Usher finally took to Europe to bring his music to arenas. He had a 10 day residency in London which was sold out every night. Celebrating over 30 years of music that has aided in shaping the music industry, the tour pulled in audiences of all demographics from around the UK that proves he is still on top of his game.
On the Sunday night we that were in attendance, Usher entered the stage in a sparkly black suit. He kicked off his set with ‘Coming Home’ fresh off his latest album of the same name. Oozing sex appeal and his signature falsetto, he carried the show smoothly continuing to deliver classics like U Remind Me, Caught Up, Love In This Club right through to the Pop focused OMG, Climax and DJ Got Us Falling In Love.
The concert wouldn’t have been what it was without a special guest! The ‘American Boy’ singer Estelle graced the stage singing the hit she is most known for. The audience raptured in applause and sung along word for word.
Amid costume changes and dance breaks, he swooned the audience by singing ‘There Goes My Baby’ followed by the viral moment of the sex icon feeding female presenting audiences his famed cherries. While this moment was filled with entertainment and shock factor, it felt like it dragged on a bit too long.
The show was heightened by brilliant dancers and backing vocalists, where the latter had a segment showing just how skilled they are in the vocal department, giving the King of R&B a run for his money!
Host of the Mid Morning Tune Up Show Lettija, who attended the show last week says “it was a lit night of all his big classic hits and a reminder of his phenomenal catalog. Definitely a vibe!”
By the end of the show, which culminated with the David Guetta collab ‘Without You’, we were completely satisfied with the spectacle of the Past Present Future tour. It was a sleek show that deserves to be celebrated due to the countless hits in his catalog. It definitely lived up to its title, being a blend of his classic material and the more newer ones.
A few pacing issues could be addressed, but Usher’s magnetic energy is a testament to the craft he has honed since the age of 16. The Beat 103.6 are excited to see him again when he returns for 2 more dates at O2 Arena in May!
