Tyla won the ‘Best Afrobeats’, ‘Best R&B’, and ‘Best African Act’ awards during the historic night.
The night caps off a huge year for the artist, that saw her win the ‘Best African Music Performance’ GRAMMY Award for her huge hit, “Water”, amongst dropping her debut self-titled album “TYLA”. Other award wins on the night included Sabrina Carpenter winning ‘Best Song’ for her track “Espresso”, Taylor Swift clinching the award for ‘Best Video’ for her track “Fortnight”, as well as the ‘Best Artist Award’.
The European Music Awards returned to the UK for its 30th anniversary, being held in Manchester’s Co-Op Live Venue. The award ceremony is held in a different city every year. The aim is to place a specific highlight on the European audience, and a spotlight on more global artists. The awards were first established in 1994.
