Afrobeat star Tiwa Savage shared her thoughts on how crucial it is for musicians to form genuine connections with their fans using the relationship between her colleagues and their fans as an example.   

She pointed out that artists like Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy excel at this and have been able to stay relevant because of it.  

During her appearance on the ‘Kick Game’ YouTube channel, Tiwa explained that these connections allow fans to engage not just with the music, but also with the artist’s lifestyle and business ventures. She stated on the ‘Shopping for Sneakers’ show with Craig Mitch that her fellow Afrobeats icons have maintained their popularity by prioritising their relationships with fans.  

The global afrobeats figure emphasised that it’s more than just the tunes; artists should also pay attention to their fashion choices and how relatable they are. She highlighted the importance of building a loyal fanbase for lasting success, saying “Connecting with fans is super important. Look at Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy—they’ve built strong ties with their audiences. Their fans are invested in their lifestyles. Even when they’re not releasing new music, they’re still part of the conversation. So, creating a solid fanbase is key. Your strength really comes from your team.”
