The South African Rapper, Costa Titch has sadly passed away over the weekend after collapsing on stage at a festival. His song ‘Activate’ blew up in 2017 after having an LA based influencer play his song, then from there his career rocketed to success. He brought a new flare to the music scene, mixing the traditional Amapiano vibes and beats, by added rap in his music.

Fans that attended the show feared for the artist when he suddenly collapsed and passed out on stage, with thousands of people gasping at the shock of the fall. Soon after the artist’s family took to Instagram with a sad post announcing his death: “Death has tragically knocked at our door. Robbing us of our beloved son, brother, and grandson. Constantinos Tsobanoglou (28), whom South Africa had come to love and idolise under his stage name ‘Costa Titch,'” his family wrote in an Instagram post shared to the rapper’s page Sunday. “It is with deep pain that we find ourselves having to acknowledge his passing at this time.” In his family’s statement, they thanked “emergency responders and all those present in his last hours on this earth […] Please keep us in your prayers and uplifted in the Lord.” The family did not give an official cause of death.  Fans, friends and celebrities commented thousands of condolence and messages underneath Costa’s Instagram post his family shared.

The South African rap community, has been feeling very heavy hearted as four weeks ago, another SA rapper, AKA (35) was fatally shot dead outside of a restaurant in Durban, SA. Fans are even more devastated with the passing of Costa and AKA’s sudden passing, their lyrical ability will be forever missed in the South African and worldwide music industry. At The Beat we are sending condolences to Costa Titch and AKA.
