
16 year old Ralph Yarl was shot after ringing the wrong doorbell. On April 13, Ralph was picking up his brothers from a friends house as instructed by parents but he was sent to the wrong address. His destination was supposed to be 115th Terrace, but he ended up on 115th Street by mistake.The suspect shot at Yarl through his door, which resulted in the teen taking one shot in the head. Ralph was released from hospital on Sunday 16th April. According to father, Ralph is making good progress and has been responsive. However, although making good progress, the mental and emotional impact this situation was had on Ralph has been unimaginable as tears fall from his eyes consistently, replaying the situation according to mum. Whilst he is at home he is surrounded by medical professionals including his mum who has been a nurse for 20 years. The family of Mr. Yarl is being represented in the case by prominent civil rights attorneys Lee Merritt and Ben Crump. They blasted the government for releasing the suspect, a white male. Numerous protestors chanted “black lives matter” and “justice for Ralph” as they gathered on Sunday close to the home where the killing occurred. The suspect has been identified as Andrew Lester,84. He was home alone at this address and used his Caliber revolver for ‘self defence’ he says. He was held in custody for 24 hours and then released. Officials are currently investigating
Ralph has been described as a fantastic kid with high hopes of graduating high school and studying chemical engineering. Ralph and his family are in our prayers as they go through this difficult time.
