Sample queen PinkPantheress has just released her hotly anticipated mixtape ‘Fancy That’ with Warner Records. It follows her first mixtape ‘To Hell with it’ in 2021, and her debut album release ‘Heaven Knows’ in 2003, which charted at #28 on the Official UK Charts, and 61 on the Billboard 200.
The 24 year old has already given us singles from this project that takes her sound into a more pop/dance infused sound and longer lengths. The first song released from the project was the bouncy ‘Tonight’ that samples ‘Do You Know What I’m Seeing?’ by Panic! at the Disco. She then released single ‘Stateside’ which speaks about wanting an American Boy… very Estelle coded!
‘Fancy That’ features 9 songs. Opening track ‘Illegal’ is one of her favourite songs that she has made on the tape, the Kent native says at her Mixmag interview. Other tracks include ‘Nice to Know You’ that samples electronic producer William Orbit’s ‘Spiral’ that was taken from his album ‘Hello Waveforms’. The song features vocals provided by the Sugababes. Other samples include Nardo Wicks, and Basement Jaxx.
She is known for her music lengths clocking in under a minute and 30 seconds, but she has delivered songs almost double the amount! Don’t get too excited though, the mixtape is over in just 20 minutes. Nonetheless, I’m sure will enjoy this body of work as much as we at The Beat 103.6FM have!
