Pharrell hints that Frank Ocean may be working on a new album in interview with Zane Lowe.

Frank Ocean fans can now rest, as Pharrell Williams revealed in his latest interview with Zane Lowe that the mysterious artist is currently “cooking up”.  In the interview, when discussing the pressure that artists often feel when releasing projects, Zane Lowe mentions that although he doesn’t wake up everyday expecting a Frank Ocean album, he likes the idea that he might just be out there “cooking”.

Pharrell responded “Oh yeah, you know he’s cooking, Frank stays in the kitchen”, alluding to the fact that the often-allusive creator is currently working on a new project. Pharrell went on to shed light on Frank Ocean’s creative process, stating that the artist greatly enjoys the process of making music, which likely impacts how much he releases to his eager fans. 

The last album released by Ocean was in 2016, when he dropped the critically acclaimed, “Blonde”, which went on to become certified Platinum. Since then, the artist has sporadically dropped singles such as “Chanel” in 2017 in addition to the acoustic tracks “Dear April” and “Cayendo” in 2020. Fans were teased with snippets of new music at the end of 2023 and the occasional selfie from the artist throughout the year. The idea that he is now working on a new album will surely have renewed hope in some who may have given up on a follow up to “Blonde”.
