Popular children’s TV character, Peppa Pig is expecting a new sibling in June 2025. Mummy Pig, voiced by comedian Morwenna Banks, announced yesterday on Good Morning Britain that she is “completely delighted” about having another piglet. She is yet to name the family’s latest edition and is waiting for the piglet’s arrival.
For over 20 years, this series has been entertaining young children from all over the world and is currently available in more than 180 territories, along with being broadcasted in over 40 languages. The animated television program, Peppa Pig, created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker was first aired in 2004 on Channel 5 Milkshake and Nick Jr. Peppa Pig traces a story of 4 year old Peppa Pig who loves jumping up and down in muddy puddles and making new friends. She lives at home with Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig and her little two-year-old brother George. The children’s hit series was acquired with a deal worth £3.3bn by a toy company Hasbro in 2019 as part of the purchase of Entertainment One’s brands.
On the 24th February, Mummy Pig teased on Instagram the latest edition of the Pig family by recalling what it was like to have a baby. Later, she revealed on the 27th February 2025, the special news and since then the news has officially ‘broken the internet’. Fans both old and young have been talking about it, with some being excited, shocked and others confused. The video of mummy pig’s announcement is currently on 28 million views on TikTok, 2.7million views on Instagram and 130K views on Good morning Britain’s YouTube. It is said that Mummy Pig will announce her pregnancy in the final episode of the current series which will air in the UK on Mother’s Day, 30 March 2025. The new baby is expected to be live on our screens, later in Autumn 2025.
The loyal fan base have been wondering if Peppa Pig & her brother George will ever age considering that the first episode aired in 2004. Others are also wondering how Mama Pig will cope with another piglet considering that the 3 piglets will be under 5. This announcement is definitely iconic because no other cartoon character has been featured on a live morning news programme. We are excited to see this latest edition to the Peppa Pig family.
