US rapper Nicki Minaj has commented after her recent arrest in Amsterdam. The ‘Pink Friday’ artist attributed her arrest and the “disgusting treatment” she received at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport to racism, which led to the cancellation of her Manchester show.

During a livestream with fans, the rapper expressed her dismay about the situation, saying, “Not being able to get to Manchester, I don’t know when I last felt that low. It was even worse knowing that something was being done to me on purpose because I am a confident person of another race.”

The mother of one claimed that her race was the reason for her mistreatment by the police, adding that she believed some of them “took joy” in it. Minaj stated, “The treatment was just disgusting, and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. And yes, I’ve been to jail before. That has nothing to do with it.”

At first, Dutch police released a statement indicating that a woman resembling Nicki had been arrested for attempting to transport what they termed as “soft drugs” to another country. In a later update, police mentioned that they had released Minaj after imposing a fine, allowing her to “move on.” While Minaj expressed feeling dehumanized by the treatment, a police spokesperson asserted that Minaj’s arrest was “standard procedure when someone is caught attempting to pass through border control with drugs in their luggage.”

Nicki Minaj, widely regarded as one of the most successful female rappers of our era, appears to have largely moved past the incident as she continues her groundbreaking tour. Despite her arrest, her subsequent shows have drawn sold-out audiences and featured celebrity guests. Nicki understandably wrapped up her discussion about the arrest with fans by emphasizing, “I’m focused on my tour, and dwelling on that won’t allow me to fulfill my obligations… My Barbz always come first.”
