Megan Thee Stallion Seeks Restraining Order Against Tory Lanez

News

December 20, 2024

Megan Thee Stallion has filed a petition for a restraining order against Tory Lanez, saying that he has been orchestrating harassment campaigns against her from behind bars. Lanez, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, is now serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan, whose legal name is Megan Pete, in the feet in 2020. Though behind bars, Megan’s lawyers accused him of still re-traumatising her by using third-party people to undermine her credibility and disseminate lies about her.

Court papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court claim Lanez is working with bloggers, including Milagro Elizabeth Cooper, known online as Milagro Gramz, to smear Megan on the internet. The filings accuse Cooper of publishing false statements, acting as Lanez’s “puppet,” and claim he has suggested that Megan wasn’t shot and described her as a “professional victim.” Megan is also suing Cooper for defamation in a separate lawsuit.

The petition cites prison call logs of Lanez at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, implying he is orchestrating this from behind bars. It also alleged that Lanez and his father, Sonstar Peterson, discussed paying Cooper to finance those attacks, though Lanez’s lawyers say he was not involved.

Megan’s lawyers say that Lanez’s actions have inflicted emotional distress and damaged her reputation. Lanez has previously questioned the fairness of his trial and falsely claimed in October that an appellate court had cleared him.

According to Megan’s attorney, the original protective order against Lanez has expired, which is a gross misstep in the justice system. Now they want the court to intervene and prevent more harassment. A hearing regarding the restraining order is planned for Jan. 9.

Lanez, 32, was found guilty in December 2022 of three felonies, including assault with a firearm. His conviction is under appeal.
