Little Simz announced as 30th curator for Southbank Centre’s Meltdown Festival

On the 12th February 2025, the Southbank Centre announced Little Simz as the curator of the 30th edition of its prominent contemporary music festival, Meltdown. Meltdown will be an eleven day festival held at the world-famous Southbank Centre. The summer festival will begin on the 12th June 2025 and end on the 22nd June 2025. Little Simz along with her amazing team will curate this boundary-breaking festival and she will also be headlining.  

The BRIT award winner has expressed her gratitude and honour to be part of so many incredible artists who have previously curated the Meltdown Festival. The ‘Offence’ rapper said, “my team and I are preparing eleven days of art, music, workshops and more” and added “Meltdown 2025 the Simz way is going to be epic!”

In addition to this, the artistic director of Southbank Centre, Mark Ball proclaimed that “Little Simz is becoming such a powerful influence in London and beyond and we’re delighted to for eleven days in June the Southbank Centre will become her cultural playground where she can fully explore her musicianship, her icons and her cultural passions.”

Little Simz has shown she is a ‘jack of all trades’ by starring in the BAFTA TV Award winning series, Top Boy, and giving a groundbreaking performance throughout the series. The ‘Venom’ rapper is recognised as one of the UK’s most ever evolving and visionary artists. Winning multiple accolades including two MOBOs, Mercury Music Prize, 2020 NME Awards and many more. Little Simz’s Glastonbury 2024 performance certainly emphasised that she is no stranger to putting on a reputable and legendary show.  

Following the footsteps of the iconic Chaka Khan, 2024’s curator of the Meltdown Festival, we at the Beat London are thrilled to hear this announcement and witness everything Little Simz and the Southbank Centre have in store for the Meltdown Festival 2025.
