During the performance, Weezy discussed his disappointment in not being selected to perform the Superbowl halftime show in 2025.
Lil Wayne reunited with the Hot Boys over the weekend to cap off a spectacular moment for his Lil WeezyAna Fest. The performance took place in the rapper’s home city of New Orleans which is also the location for the 2025 Superbowl and its Halftime Show – a source of controversy as of late. Wayne was joined onstage by Turk, B.G. and Juvenile, in their first performance together in over 15 years. They performed popular tracks like ‘Bling Bling’, and ‘I need a Hot Girl’.
Throughout the festival, the legendary artist performed his biggest hits, including the likes of ‘Mr.Carter’, which he introduced after an almost two-minute speech where he discussed his disappointment in not being selected to perform the Superbowl Halftime Show over Kendrick Lamar.
Within his speech, Wayne said “I worked my ass off to get to that f**king position, and it was ripped away from me.” Many feel that Wayne should have been chosen to perform due to the performance taking place in his hometown of New Orleans. Kendrick Lamar was chosen for the performance following a monstrous year where we witnessed him take down Wayne’s protege, Drake, in a back-and-forth rap beef.
