The Fugees rapper/singer and music legend Lauren Hill has been touring to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her Certified Diamond album; The Miseducation of Lauren Hill.
This album was a staple in female rap and neo sole earning her ten nominations at the 41st Annual Grammy Awards and winning her 5 (making Hill the first woman to receive that many nominations and awards in one night.)
However, during her tour Hill has been under scrutiny for her frequent tardiness to her concerts. Hill is known for being late to her concerts and performances and during her Los Angeles concert (which she was also late for) she finally addressed this issue.
“Yo, y’all lucky I make it on this blood ras stage every night,”
Hill told the crowd.
“I don’t do it because they let me do it. I do it because I stand here in the name of God and I do it. God is the one who allows me to do it, who surrounded me with family and community when there was no support.”
Despite fans distaste with her Tardiness, Hill seems to not be planning to change anytime soon as she’s been under fire in the past about this same issue. Back in 2020 Hill went onto her Facebook page to explain that her lateness wasn’t a result of her not caring for her fans. Instead, she said her challenge is “aligning her energy” with the moment and she finds it difficult.
Despite all of this, Hill fans still love her with one fan commenting “one thing about Lauren is no matter how late she is she will still bring us a SHOW and will not disappoint”
The 48yr old music legend is still on tour right now to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her amazing album, and as expected she is smashing every performance so far on the tour.
