Jigar Brings Lisbon’s Beachside Beats To The Beat

Guest

April 1, 2025

Wednesday, 2nd April, tune into The Beat London 103.6 FM at 9 pm for another edition of The ADM Show, where host Ekiti Sounds welcomes the internationally celebrated DJ Jigar for a guest mix packed with warmth, rhythm, and cultural storytelling.

DJ Jigar ignites a sunset dancefloor on Costa da Caparica beach, blending tribal percussion and Afro-house rhythms for barefoot crowds at his iconic Sunset Tribe event.

Born in Mozambique and raised in Portugal, Jigar Govinde (better known as DJ Jigar) has spent nearly two decades crafting sets that feel like a heartfelt conversation. His journey began in 2004, spinning records in Lisbon’s buzzing clubs, and his passion quickly grew into a career that’s taken him from intimate venues to festival stages across New York, Dubai, Ibiza, and beyond. What sets Jigar apart isn’t just his technical skill – it’s the soul he pours into every performance. Drawing from his Mozambican-Indian heritage and Portuguese upbringing, his mixes weave together tribal percussion, melodic grooves, and the kind of rhythms that make crowds sway as if they’ve known the songs all their lives.

Jigar’s story is one of connection. Whether he’s playing sunrise sets in Tulum or headlining festivals in his adoptive home of Portugal, his music bridges cultures. “It’s about sharing where I’ve been and who I am,” he says. “When people dance, it’s like we’re all speaking the same language.” Jigar is eager to bring this philosophy to new stages, blending electronic beats with organic, earthy sounds that reflect his love for Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Sunset Tribe: Where Beaches Become Dancefloors

At the heart of his work lies Sunset Tribe, his flagship event series that transforms Portugal’s coastlines into rhythmic hubs. On Costa da Caparica’s beaches, barefoot crowds move to Jigar’s Afro-house beats and tribal percussion, while Faro’s Rooftop Eva offers sunset sessions where grooves meet ocean views. “Sunset Tribe is where music becomes a conversation,” Jigar shares. “You see people laughing, dancing—no one stays a stranger.”

Between events, Jigar fuels his fans with Me Gusta, a monthly mix series that captures the essence of his live sets. Each installment blends soulful electronics, handpicked rhythms, and unreleased tracks from collaborators like Kenyan vocalist Idd Aziz. “With Me Gusta, I want listeners to feel the energy of our dancefloors, whether they’re in London or Nairobi,” he says.

Rhythm Is Universal—Join the Family

For Ekiti Sounds’ ADM Show, expect a mix that’s both intimate and explosive – a testament to Jigar’s knack for turning DJ sets into shared experiences. From nostalgic nods to his early days in Lisbon to fresh tracks inspired by his global travels, this is music that moves feet and sparks joy.

On Wednesday 2nd April at 9 pm on The Beat London 103.6 FM  experience why crowds flock to Sunset Tribe’s seaside gatherings and why Me Gusta has become a monthly ritual for Afro House lovers.  As Jigar puts it: “Rhythm is universal. When we dance, we’re all family.”  Let him remind us why dancefloors, no matter where they are, always feel like home.
