DJ Khaled has released his long awaited star-studded album ‘God Did’, with features from the biggest, global superstars. Drake, Jay-z, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, SZA and many more… In the single ‘God did’ fans were excited about the UK shout out from JAY-Z to South London’s very own Giggs. He states in his verse on the track ‘God did’ ‘ They said they don’t know me internationally, n*ggas on the road did, I see a lot of Hov in Giggs’.

Giggs is a rapper from Peckham, London, considered one of the Godfathers of the UK Rap scene. Jay-Z sees himself in his success and musicianship, anointing Giggs the Jay-Z of the UK.

Giggs is from the roads, a London term meaning he comes from the streets and street life. So when Jay mentions “n*ggas on the road”, it’s referring to hustlers in Britain recognising him as one of their own – and, as Hov sees himself in Giggs, he recognises them as like minds in return.

Note the wordplay with “Giggs” (gigs) and “on the road”, creating the image of touring. This goes with the less cryptic reading of the line, which is that – despite what people say – Jay can go on international world tours and have people know him.
