The event took place a day after accusations were made that Jay-Z assaulted a 13 year old girl.
The couple were seen at the ‘Mufasa’ premier walking the red carpet and in support of their 12 year old daughter Blue Ivy, as she celebrates her big role in the ‘Mufasa’ film, starring as the voice of lion Kiara, the daughter of Simba.
The family were seen in good spirits just a day after accusations that Jay-Z assaulted a 13 year old girl back in 2000 were revealed in a lawsuit. However, he had vehemently denied the allegations and was seen to be smiling and waving on the carpet alongside his family, including Beyonce’s mother Tina Knowles.
Jay-Z, formally known as Shawn Carter, branded the lawsuit filed by attorney Tony Buzbee a ‘blackmail attempt’ and the claims against him ‘idiotic’.
The accuser, who had chosen to be identified as ‘Jane Doe’ claimed that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Carter were both involved in the assault during a house party after the 2000 MTV VMA’s.
Carter continued to state in his defence that ‘We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honour. We protect children, you seem to exploit people for personal gain’.
In October, the lawsuit was first filed in the southern district of New York, listing Diddy Combs as the original defendant, however this was recently refiled to include Carter.
Amidst all the drama and speculation, Jay-Z and Beyonce have not let it dim their spirit as they were pictured holding up peace signs and laughing whilst they helped their daughter with her dress on the way into the premier.
Beyonce also followed up by paying tribute to her daughter on Instagram, with the caption reading “My gorgeous baby girl you worked hard and you did such a beautiful job as the voice of Kiara. Your family could not be prouder. Keep shining.”
