Connoisseur of Pop, Janet Jackson returned to our screens after 7 years! The 51st American Music Awards were held yesterday (26th May 2025) at the Fontainbleau in Las Vegas.
The 59-year old performed her classics “All For You” and “Someone to Call My Lover” to an audience filled with stars of the night such as Billie Eilish, Shaboozey, Kehlani, Jordan Chiles and more iconic faces. Jackson was given the ICON award for her contribution and impact to music impact.
Accepting the award, Janet said “My family, myself, our dream wasn’t ever to be famous. We weren’t raised like that. We always had a special love for music, dancing, singing and fame came with the result of hard work and dedication”. Dressed in a white puffer and her trademark jeans, she continued ‘“I hope I’ve been an inspiration for other artists to follow their dreams and succeed.”
Hosted by Jennifer Lopez, we saw her perform a dance medley of recent hits, “Birds of a Feather”, “Denial is a River”, “Not Like Us”, and “Die with a Smile” to name a few. Other performances of the night included Gwen Stefani, Rod Stewart, Gloria Estefan, Renee Rapp, and Benson Boone.
Billie Eilish was the most awarded artist of the night with 7 wins. Doechii took home Social Song of the Year, Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars took home awards for their monster collaboration “Die with a Smile”, and Beyonce won Best Country Artist and Album.
