The announcement of the new limited series on Monday 18th November was also accompanied by the re-release of Cole’s debut mixtape, ‘The Come Up’ on DSPs.
J. Cole has announced the release of a new limited audio series, titled ‘Inevitable’ via Instagram this past Monday, something he calls a “movie in the form of a conversation.” The series is a collaboration between Cole, his manager, Ibrahim ‘Ib’ Hamad, and Scott Lazer, and will detail the journey that the artist has been on, from the beginning of his rap career, to where he is now at the height of superstardom. Fans will not only get to witness previously unseen moments, but they will also hear unreleased tracks from the legendary artist as they are taken on a journey of anecdotes and an experience of the highs and lows that come with chasing a dream.
In his announcement on Instagram, Cole stated that the works initially started as a conversation between himself, Ib, and Scott, where they spent days recapping and recording his journey as an artist, something that he found both “emotional” and “therapeutic”. Once the conversations were edited by Scott, the artist was then able to listen back to his journey from a third-person perspective, and he found himself inspired and “glued” to his story, as though he were hearing it for the first time. The ultimate goal of the series, as proclaimed by Cole, is to “feed the spirit”, and “provide encouragement” for all those who are chasing their own dreams.
The release of the first episode on Monday was also accompanied by the release of J. Cole’s debut mixtape, ‘The Come Up’, finally being available on DSPs for fans to listen back to. Eager fans hope that this is the signal of a new project to come for Cole, who last released his EP ‘Might Delete Later’ at the start of the year.
