DJ and producer Mixolis joins The ADM universe on The Beat London alongside TMSKDJ, Polo Soleri and Tina Ardor with Gqom O’Clock, a monthly mix series dedicated exclusively to Gqom. Airing on the second Tuesday of each month from 8pm–9pm, the residency positions the station as a rare UK broadcast space focused on a genre that has largely grown through grassroots diaspora networks rather than mainstream radio.

Born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and now a central figure in London’s underground scene, Mixolis has spent more than 15 years shaping dancefloors through Amapiano, Afrohouse, Gqom and 3-Step. His long-standing commitment to Gqom – dating back to the genre’s early emergence – informs a curatorial approach that treats it not as a trend but as an evolving culture with deep Southern African roots.

Beyond DJing, Mixolis operates as an infrastructure builder within the scene. He founded JIKA, a London event regularly drawing over 500 dancers, creating a physical space where African electronic music circulates outside traditional club gatekeeping. Through SONKE, he has developed a platform for emerging DJs and producers, redistributing opportunities and visibility in a landscape where access to stages and audiences often concentrates around a small number of promoters.

His career includes a Global African Award, appearances in BBC 1Xtra’s Amapiano to Afrohouse series and performances spanning Ministry of Sound and European festival circuits. As a producer, releases such as BLWY and Bhundu translate club energy into recorded form, while a digital audience of over 30,000 followers extends his reach beyond local scenes.

On The Beat London, Gqom O’Clock will spotlight the genre’s producers, textures and ongoing evolution, linking broadcast radio with the community-led ecosystems that sustain Gqom internationally.

Grab a cold one, the second Tuesday each month 8pm – 9pm is Gqom O’Clock.
