The new theatre production ‘For Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy’ by Ryan Calais Cameron has been selling out at the Apollo Theatre back to back. This production touches on sensitive topics that black men face on a daily basis and are too afraid to speak openly about. I watched this production and fell in love with the diversity and rawness of the play. The theatre was filled with tears and sniffles as each character opens up about their deepest darkest stories and secrets and how that shaped them into the men they are today. The men touch on racism, police brutality, gang violence, love and relationships, the black queer community and so much more. Ryan Calais Cameron was raised in South East London Catford and says that moments from this play have been inspired from his own personal experience and experiences he has seen happen to his friends. It is deeply moving and allows many people to relate to things that they would have thought they were going through alone. I highly recommend, tickets range from £18-60.
