January 20, 2023

Flo, the British home-grown group from London, consisting of Jorja Douglas, Stella Quaresma, and Reneè Downer was picked up on The Beat London’s radar in the earlier rise to fame by our presenter Laurel Jade.

The group was formed in 2019 and is now currently signed to Island Records. The trio turned into a viral sensation after the release of their debut single “Cardboard Box”. Ever since the phenomenal London trio has been quoted to be ‘leading the next generation of girl groups’ by the popular music magazine NME. With outstanding nominations from the Brit Awards for ‘Rising Star Award’, MOBO ‘Best Newcomer’ and awarded ‘Sound of the year’ by BBC Sounds it is clear their talent is recognized and undeniable.

This year they have appeared on the famous Jimmy Kimmel Live show, kickstarted VEVO campaigns, and released their successful debut EP ‘The Lead’ on a mission to bring back feel-good girl group music. They bring back the classic R&B and Hip-Hop sound reminiscent of the likes of old-school favorites TLC, and Destiny Child.

The emerging stars have already kick-started 2023 with their collaboration with Stormy for a remix of his chart-topping song Hide&Seek. Flo has proven this year they are here to stay and here at The Beat London we are excited to see what the rest of 2023 will bring for them.
