The beef heats up
Drake finally escalated the rap beef of 2024 after his long awaited response track was leaked this past Saturday.
Many were hesitant to trust the song’s legitimacy given the impressively deceptive quality of AI-generated music these days.
However, such doubts were quelled when media personality DJ Akademiks debuted a high quality version of the track, which is titled “Push Ups (Drop and Give Me 50)”.
Firing back
On it, Drake calls out Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Rick Ross, Future, and Metro Boomin, amongst others.
You can check out the lyrics here.
The song focuses primarily on Kendrick Lamar, who ignited the beef with his verse on “Like That” back in March.
Drake teased Lamar’s short physical frame, called out his old contract with Top Dawg Entertainment, and name-dropped his wife and mother of two children.
Additionally though, he had time for The Weeknd and Rick Ross.
The Weeknd threw shade at him on “All to Myself”, the eighth track on the We Still Don’t Trust You project by Future and Metro Boomin, while Rick Ross had been teasing Drake on social media following Kendrick Lamar’s verse on “Like That”.
He threw some subliminal shade at Future, and had a line for Metro Boomin which he has since alluded to in numerous Instagram story posts.
An immediate response
Wasting no time, Rick Ross responded almost instantly with a diss track of his own titled “Champagne Moments”.
On it, he claimed that Drake had a nose job done, called him a poser in more than one sense, and teased his biracial identity by repeatedly calling him “white boy”.
Drake then took to X to share a screenshot of texts between him and his mother, addressing Rick Ross’ claims.
Many were critical of Drake’s decision to call Rick Ross racist, while some said that he was being sarcastic in his claims.
What everyone is really waiting for
With all of the noise being made from all sides, it’s easy to forget what the real showdown is.
Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
Lamar got things started with his high energy verse on “Like That”, and he got his response from Drake.
It’s now the Compton native’s turn to respond with a proper, full length diss track of his own.
Rap fans are on the edge of their seats awaiting the further escalation of this beef.
We’re witnessing something unlike anything we’ve seen in quite a long time.
Stay tuned.
