Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido surprised his fans with the announcement of his 5th studio album, scheduled to drop on March 14th 2025. On Davido’s Instagram, he announced that the new studio album is to be called ‘5IVE’ and is dedicated “to all the dreamers, go getters” and is an album “straight from the heart”.
The ‘If’ and ‘Unavailable’ singer has done several collaborations over the past few years with artists such as Darkoo, TXC, Angelique Kidjo and Chris Brown. His most recent collaboration was with YG Marley on the song ‘Awuke’ which was released on October 31st last year and currently has over 4.7million views on YouTube.
Along with the huge album announcement, Davido also dropped the first single from ‘5IVE’ called ‘Funds’ with Odumodublvck and Chike. ‘Funds’ samples the legendary South African singer Brenda Fassie and her song ‘Vulindela’. Over the past three days, the official audio for ‘Funds’ already has over 704,000 views on YouTube while the official music video, released just yesterday and has already achieved 25,000 views.
According to Kworb.net (2024), Davido’s previous album “Timeless” is his highest streamed album, amassing over 530,400,755 streams on Spotify alone. ‘Timeless’ which was released in March 2023 includes smash hist like “Unavailable”, “Champion Sound”and “Feel” amongst many others.
