The track was released following the artist’s interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
Cleo Sol debuted her new track, ‘Fear When You Fly’ on 1st November, making it her first single since the release of her 2023 LPs in titled ‘Heaven’ and ‘Gold’. The track, featuring soft bass and guitar tones, touches on subjects of finding ‘inner peace’ and ‘surrendering control’. The West-Londoner’s music often includes themes of spirituality, something that was referenced in this new track, where she touches on her relationship with God. The chorus is a soft melody that serenades and lulls the listener to “feel the fear when you fly”, something that can be interpreted as embracing the fear that comes with taking on new challenges, as we often do when attempting to reach new heights, or “fly”.
Cleo Sol has become an artist that we must mention, not only when discussing the best singers/songwriters in the UK, but across music in general. The climb was not a quick one, as she can be heard on classic grime tracks like ‘Tears’ alongside Tinie Tempah, from all the way back in 2008. However, as mentioned in her interview with Zane Lowe, it took her some time to start making the music that she felt fit who she was.
Her fans across the world will be hoping that this track, and her first extended interview in almost 12 years, is the signal that a new album is to come.
