The social experiment that hit our television screens on Monday 7th April has already sparked controversy.

Actor Mickey Rourke, the biggest signing of the show who was offered a whopping $500,000 for his 3 week stint was recently given a formal warning for the use of homophobic language towards Dance Mom’s Jojo Siwa who identifies as queer. Speaking of who he will nominate, he said he was planning to “vote the lesbian out real quick” to which she responded “that’s homophobic”.

Following several comments afterwards, Love Islands Chris Hughes quickly came to Siwa’s defence, telling Rourke “You can’t say that Mickey”. Rourke was quickly called in to the diary room to be reminded of the rules before he entered the house.

The episode broadcasted to millions also showed Siwa breaking down into tears over the comments made. This has sparked several complaints from the general public on social media platforms, where the LGBTQIA+ community have expressed their outrage.

Earlier this week, the housemates were called to the diary room one by one to vote for who they would like to nominate for eviction. Fortunately for some, he is currently up for eviction tonight against Conservative politician Michael Fabricant and Coronation Street Actor Jack P. Shepherd. Find out who the first evicted housemate tonight at 9pm on ITV or ITVX.

Hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best, you can catch Celebrity Big Brother Mondays to Fridays 9pm, and 10pm on Sunday Evenings.
