Beyoncé became the first black woman to hit number one on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with the success of her latest single, “Texas Hold ‘Em”.
As a Texas native herself, “Texas Hold ‘Em” is a shoutout to the state where Bey was born and raised, featuring a guitar-laden instrumental with lyrics that tap into traditional themes of country music.
“Texas Hold ‘Em” is the second single she’s released this month following “16 Carriages”, and both tracks can be expected to feature on her upcoming country album, Act II.
Act II, which is set for release on March 29th, is a follow up to her 2022 house album Renaissance.
Beyoncé’s ability to shift effortlessly between genres is further proof that there’s no slowing down the 32-time Grammy winner.
