Ayra Starr gears up for a big release

Ayra Starr has announced the upcoming release of her sophomore album, The Year I Turned 21.

The album, which comes out on May 31, comes out just under three years after her debut studio album, 19 & Dangerous.

It’s been a big year already for Starr, who was nominated for best African music performance at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

With Tems dropping her debut studio album this month, it’s a huge month for the Afropop and Afrobeats.

The Benin-born Nigerian singer has released two singles in the lead up to the album.

First came “Rhythm & Blues” in September 2023, and then “Commas” in February of this year.
