Artificial Intelligence or ‘AI’ is intelligence demonstrated by machines, as opposed to intelligence of humans and other animals. Technology that enables a computer to think or act in a more ‘human’ way. It does this by taking in information from its surroundings, and deciding its response based on what it learns or senses.
Recently ‘AI’ has been a trending topic on social media, with audio displaying various music artist hit songs being artificially created to be sung by another artist. With these songs circulating the internet, ‘AI’ has been a topic of conversation as some fans are not able to fathom how “real” or “creepy” they sound.
Recently an AI song was created featuring computer generated voices of The Weeknd and Drake. The song was titled “Heart On my Sleeve” and uploaded onto Tiktok by a user named ‘Ghostwriter977’, the song was also uploaded to streaming service under the artist name of ‘Ghostwriter’. The song quickly circulated on social media platforms such as: TikTok, Twitter, YouTube and even the streaming service Spotify. Since then, the Artificial Intelligence song has been removed from streaming services by Universal for “Infringing content created with generative AI”. However, by the time it was removed on the 17th of April 2013, the song had already racked up 600,000 Spotify streams, 15m TikTok views and 275,000 YouTube views.
Many are wondering what is to come from a future of life with AI and the positive and negative ways that it could affect society.
