The Premier League title race is heating up with only 13 matchweeks remaining.
Seven months into the season, Liverpool have exceeded expectations as they continue to lead the pack with 60 points. Fellow title contenders Manchester City and Arsenal, both of whom have a game in hand, are four and five points behind the league leaders respectively.
Even with an ever-growing injury list, Liverpool are showing no signs of slowing down. The league leaders continue to demonstrate a title-winning mentality, having now recovered 22 points from losing positions, the most of any side this season.Â
Arsenal and Manchester City, meanwhile, are being forced to keep up with the Reds.
Arsenal have been flying high in the league as of late, scoring 21 goals in their last five games after struggling to score goals in the first half of the season. A loss last night at Porto in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie will have humbled the Gunners, but with key players nearing a return to fitness, there is still momentum to maintain.
Man City are undefeated in all competitions since their loss to Aston Villa on December 6th, and the recent return of Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland has been a massive boost for Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning side. It’s no secret how ruthless City tends to be in the second half of the season, so there is little room for error in this title race.Â
Liverpool are showing the credentials of champions on both ends of the pitch, but will Manchester City become the first side in English history to win four consecutive league titles, or can Arsenal finally win their first league title in 20 years?Â
With Jurgen Klopp set to bow out as manager at the end of the season after nine years in charge, it would be a beautiful end to his legendary career as Liverpool boss to walk away with his second Premier League title.Â
