WATCH: FKA Twigs Spearheads Nike Women's New Campaign
Finding it hard to stick to your New Year's resolution to join the gym and get active? FKA Twigs and Nike Women might just be the motivation you need.
Teaming up together to promote the new Sping’17 Zonal Strength Tights Collection, Twigs not only acts as the Creative Director for the promo vid but the 28-year-old has taken full charge having conceptualized, directed, performed and soundtracked the eye-catching visual short.
Known for her abstract creativity and unique style and sound, FKA Twigs enlists the help of twelve athletes including classical violinist and Krumping star, Saskia Horton, Jay Kirton, a karate champion, and Miles Chamley-Watson, a fencer. Set in what looks like an enchanted forest the athletes show off their skills to the backdrop of FKA Twigs' new single 'Trust Me'.
Speaking on the concept of the project the music artist said, "Through dance, I’ve met young people who work really hard and have dedicated their lives to being active,’ FKA twigs explained. "To me they represent “modern movement,” which I define as exploring any genre of sport without boundaries."
‘When Nike first came to me with this project, I saw it as an opportunity to let young people know they have the power to become the best versions of themselves.
‘I put together a cast of 12 incredible athletes to show that it’s about what you do in fitness gear. It’s about how you train. It’s about how those things help your movement."
‘It’s exciting to have created something that’s genuinely by and about young people who work hard, who are sensitive, who embrace both their strength and their vulnerabilities, and who, together, feel that they can be successful.’
Another amazing talent that also worked on this project was 17-year-old photographer David Uzochukw who captured the campaign's official photos in Mexico City. Pretty Impressive huh.
Well we're certainly inspired!
