Grime Acts Win Big At This Year's NME Awards

It's been a tremendous year for both Wiley and Skepta and the Grime scene in general. But last night saw the two pioneers take center stage at the NME Awards in Brixton, representing the East London originated sound and it's cimb into the mainstream.

Despite the main award (Godlike Genius Award) being bagged by the Pet Shop Boys, it was the wins of the London music pioneers that Shutdown the O2 Academy. First Skepta scooped the award for Best Male Artist, presented by an unsurprising fan of his, London Mayor Saadiq Khan. Mayor Khan described the 'Konnichiwa' star as being a "cool and talented" role model before Skepta returned the favor by saying he's a fan of the London Mayor "we do the same thing, go against the grain".

It wasn't long before Skepta would return to the stage after receiving his award, but this time to salute the 'Godfather' himself with the award for Outstanding Contirbution To Music. The music legends embraced on stage (main image) with Skepta leaving this message for Wiley on his Instagram page: "Congratulations to my brother @Wiley_ the living legend. Love you family. This was a tru honour @nmemagazine"
